Kara Steffen is a strategist and consultant who helps nonprofit leaders build organizations as strong as the missions they serve. She brings an integrated perspective to fundraising, technology, finance, and organizational operations.

As founder of The Change Up Group, Kara has spent the past seven years advising nonprofits ranging from emerging organizations to established institutions. Her work includes organizational assessments, strategic planning, fundraising operations, financial management, technology implementation, and data strategy. Whether advising an executive team or redesigning the systems behind its work, she focuses on creating practical, sustainable solutions that strengthen decision-making and free staff to spend more time advancing the mission.

Before founding The Change Up Group, Kara led development operations at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the largest LGBT nonprofit in the country. That experience shaped her belief that what appears to be a fundraising or capacity challenge is often, underneath, an operations and systems challenge.
